Taking a steamy shower is something you look forward to each day. You feel fresh and ready to face the challenges ahead if you have a nice shower. When you bathe, you feel relaxed, but it is not the primary reason why you take a shower. You also want to clean your body and stay healthy. These are some mistakes you might make when you shower.
The temperature is too high
Whether you are using a shower or a bath, you need to be careful with the temperature. Everyone prefers warm water when bathing. However, not everyone can tolerate the same level of heat. If you have a high tolerance for heat, it does not mean you should maximise the allowable temperature on the setting. When the water is too hot, it will not only open the pores of your skin but also strip away its natural oils. It makes your skin dry and itchy.
You are showering too often
Having regular showers is an excellent idea if your goal is to stay healthy and germ-free. The problem is when you hop inside the shower room more than once a day. Again, your body has natural oils. Overexposure to water could strip away the moisture. Unless you were outdoors the entire day or you worked out, you do not need to shower all the time. If you feel like you cannot skip a day of bathing, it helps if you shorten the time you spend on bathing.
You are not careful in choosing body care products
You need to select carefully the products you use when bathing. You need to avoid products with fragrances since they contain too many chemicals. You also need to avoid the ones with sulphates and other preservatives that increase the chances of skin irritation and allergies. If you already have cracked and dry skin, you need to ask your dermatologist which products would be suitable for you.
You do not wash your loofah
You assume that since your loofah is already wet when you bathe, it is safe to use. The truth is that you need to dry it after using it. Your dead skin cells are still on your loofah after bathing. Since it is wet, it could be a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Imagine if you use it again without proper cleaning. Instead of getting clean, you become dirtier.
You do not clean your tub
If you have the luxury of taking whirlpool baths at home, you might be enjoying them. No one can resist hopping into this type of bath because it is so relaxing. It does not mean though that you can use it all the time without cleaning it. Yes, it contains water when you bathe, but it is not enough. The tub requires proper maintenance. You also need to check for stains and possible mould since you are naked when you enter the tub. You are susceptible to infections.
You know the right thing to do. You need to start changing your bathing habits.
